What is karma on rw-designer.com?
Karma (displayed in the Statistics section on user's profile) is a rough representation of the value of actions the person took in the past.
A new account starts with 0 karma and certain actions can increase or decrease it. The karma system is not finalized and it will be adjusted in the future to reward friendly and helpful people and limit the damage trolls can do.
How to increase your karma?
There are multiple ways how to gain karma, for example:
- Simply visiting the web once per day grants 1 karma point up to a maximum of 200.
- Interacting with the web in various ways (posting comments, responses, uploading icons or cursors, etc.) grants 2 karma points once per day up to a maximum of 400.
- Each original, high quality (following all the guidelines) icon or cursor set can bring the author a couple of karma points depending on the popularity of the set.
- Posting a helpful comment or review that gets upvoted a lot is worth 1 karma point.
There are also ways to lose karma. Being rude, spamming, posting garbage comments, picking irrelevant tags for your sets, breaking copyright, basically anything that lowers the quality of the web may result in negative karma.
Why should you care how much karma you have?
Some actions require a minimum karma, for example:
- 5 karma is needed to be able to upvote and downvote comments.
- Various amounts of karma are needed to be able to join some groups without needing explicit group owner approval.
- Some forum sections require minimum karma. Creating a poll in the General chat forum requires 50 karma.
The amount of karma you have influences how effective your upvoting and downvoting is.
