196U - Retro 4-bit 32x32 icons based on the coloring used in my artifacts cursor sets. Mostly, if you want to give an old PC newer looking Win 7 style icons. Or a newer PC icons that would look the same in Win '95. You can see what the other artifact/decade color themes look like though. Now, Imagine seeing these in full Win '95 glory.

Only in 32x32 - these are retro after all, the preview stretches them out to 48x48 as if they were a newer icon format.

197V - b/w - it's like win 7 meets dot matrix.
198W - purple - "the wave" psuedo cga.
199X - red - yeah that palette.
200Y - green - better greens were showing up, imitated in actual cutting edge 4 bit color.
201Z - blue - because blue is better than the muddy unreal engine imitation.

NOTE: The 2 color icons are NOT in 2 bit color. Newer versions of windows can't hang with actual 2 bit color icons ... cursors, sure - icons? Not since Vista. So the b/w icons are actually in 4 bit color like the rest of the set. I never saw windows ever crash so completely that it needed to go into actual 2 color mode anyway ...

CAVEAT: The dot matrix looking icons are more amusing than they appear. Don't ask me why. You might find yourself using them more than you want.

RANDOM: I don't like the "My Documents" icon much either.

When I use them I mix these ... 198W Computer, 200Y Network, 201Z Documents and 199X Recycle (both). Or just all the dot matrix ones ... I might be mental.

The look nice. The monochromatics you used for set V looks compatible with many Macintosh computers from 1984 to 1996, which I greatly like. The others are I think an average of 4 colors each set. How did you get those colors to replace the modern ones? Nice work!

Basic dithering?

The initial versions of the B/W cursors were compatible with Win 2.0 until I discovered they aren't compatible in newer versions of windows. I haven't made a 2 bit icons since the 80's and that was on a mac.

The B/W versions totally give me mac flashbacks too! Had to mail them to a mac junkie friend of mine who also loved them.
