I want to get my original cursor back, not the 'Christmas tree' I recently sampled and got stuck with.

The default Windows cursors are in C:\WINDOWS\Cursors folder...
goto Control Panel then go mouse then cursor then click on the original cursor you had.

Check there instruction on how to change mouse pointers. Default Windows Pointers are in C:\Windows\Cursors.
