There is no eraser, that's not very convenient...

This is not the proper place to ask questions about cursors, please use the forum next time. You need to set the "hot spot" - the computer cannot read your mind and does not know that the image is an "arrow".

This is nice for a free on-line icon editer, but note that this is free the soft where they offer here dosen't look to bad. Free you get what you pay for. It's nice for making basic icon's for software..ect If you want something better than buy some icon software. Also http://www.chami.com/html-kit/services/ has one but don't support transparents

Of course it runs on Intel-based PC's. But you have to download the correct version - the 64-bit version will only run if you also have 64-bit edition of Windows, it is not enough to have a 64-bit processor.

People, this tool is for favicons, not for ordinary icons. Of course the downloaded icon is blurry when you look at it in Explorer. That's because it is 16x16 pixels. Here is more stuff about icons and everyone who wants to create icons should read it.

It's so simple, even a retarded spider monkey can use it. See, the trick is - you actually Look at what's up there, and -omg- Read the instructions, and (here's the hard part) use the two working brain cells to think about it, it's pretty easy. Can't draw? Upload a pic. Can't download it (Try SAVE instead of OPEN). Wow. It only took me 95 seconds to make an icon.

TEXT tool will NOT be added. This service is for favicons, which are small and adding text on favicons is a bad design practice. If you want to do it anyway, draw the letter or two yourself. If you want to make larger icons with text, use an ordinary application instead of this online service.

When you upload an image, it is very blurred. What are the recommended dimensions for uploading an image? I would have thought it would be 32x32 although through using that it still has a blurred result.

The size is 16x16 - this is a small icon size like in caption of application windows. If you view it at larger size, it may appear blurred.

This is a great tool. As a web developer, I know how hard it has been to make this web application. It's sick! For all the comments that has been offensive so far, I will respond with the following.

The image is blurry because you try to load a high pixelled image inside the tool, that then converts it to only 16 X 16 pixels. This is completely normal, and that is what the tool should do.

They've got a point, it does not work, even if you have 16x16 images.

Worked fine when I tested it today - just use .jpg or .png without transparency. Creating the icon from picture is done on the server, so it may fail if the server is overloaded - if you are convinced that your picture is OK, just try it later.

I could not get it to load an icon from my files for editing and I could not get it to draw anything on the canvas. It kept highlighting the "current color" text.

I have just had a problem creating the Icon from a loaded file. was saving a 32x32 jpg in standard encoding, no compression from PSP. Wasn't getting anything appear even though the image looked file in everything else. Then I Flattened the image BEFORE saving, the webpage worked great after that. Have used this several times always worked everytime for me. Think it's great. As for the person saying they couldn't get it to draw anything on the page, probably something wrong with your browser settings.

why is my IE not shitty? I have always thought it was shitty but this page does not have that error message. I defy this because we use lots of products here and IE is much more shitty than all the rest. 😞 It must be Java!

For those seeing "shitty_IE_needs_this" (or workaround_for_IE_turn_off_debug_mode) - the error is intentional and IE does NOT work without it. Turn off javascript debugging (this is the default anyway) or use Firefox or Opera, they do not need this workaround. Do not send me emails reporting the "problem" (but do send me an email if you find a better workaround ;-)).

If IE *really* *really* needs a mouseout, use void(0), which does nothing. If your code triggers other errors in IE, don't call those functions from IE - check the user agent. Making other people change their browser settings to fit your code is not the way to go.

Some people should never be allowed to develop web applications...

IE does NOT require you to throw an error to the browser. You just suck at your job.

A lot of people (like real web developers) need to keep debug mode on so they can catch these errors in their applications before they are deployed.

I am sorry that the minority of people who 1) have debug mode enabled and 2) do not have FF cannot use the tool, but I simply do not know how to fix it (void(0) or any other valid code or nothing at all does not help, BTW the code is browser-dependent, and AFAIK IE only behaves correctly if there is an error). If you know how to do it, please let me know and I will gladly modify the page. Please verify your solution before posting it - download the page, make changes to the source code (the drawing does not require server interaction). Thanks in advance.

Regarding the memory allocation: could happen, if your image was like 1000x1000 pixels, this is not a dedicated server...
And finally my response to the last comment - take it easy, this is just a toy to make favicons for free. I am not getting paid for it and if you refer to the non-obtrusive ad on the left side, it generates just enough income to pay for the traffic.

Works fine if you're making an icon from scatch but it don't work at all for uploaded images.:(

When making icons from images use small ones - like 200x200 pixels. There is no point in using larger images, the result is 16x16 pixels anyway and there is limit on the maximum size.

As far as I'm concerned, the app works brilliantly, and very intuitive. Pity my own artistic efforts (or ability to get a decently scaled-down file of the image) are so pathetic. 😉 One idea: auto-switch to pencil/line/whatever-was-being-used-previously after using the 'dropper' tool, like most image editors do.

You guys are not getting the ide of this tool. This tool is only made for creating favicon files which are the small icon displayed in the IE browser. The icon has to be made in 16x16 pixel and therefore the large pixel size. If you want to be creative use another program. As the name of the app. says "Online fav-icon creator" it for making favicons. In other words the app. works as intended and if you cant see it its because you dont know how to use it 😊

Make it square, or as close to square as you can, aspect ratio helps. Then download it. Give it your own name if you like, but keep the .ico extension. Make sure you call it out properly in your HTML. I've used this great little program for many years now. Anybody complaining about it, or using derogatory comments to complain about this nice free service isn't smart enough to use it.

thanks for making this. i made a minicraft favicon from an image of a minicraft sword, then i made a shortcut on my desktop leading to this website: http://http://playminicraft.com/mod.php?m=minicraft-official and used the sword favicon as the icon of the shortcut.

minicraft is like an 8-bit 2d version of minecraft. it's fun.

the pros:
1.there are chests
2.you can just hold a lanturn (light source) and it gives off light
3.it is easier to cut trees
the cons:
1.the only mobs are slimes, zombies, and the boss, the air wizard
2.the only foods are apples and bread
3.you can't build houses or towers

still, it's cool. i like minecraft, too. they are both cool. minecraft has more possibilities, tho.
